Design Island is an association of Ireland’s leading contemporary interior designers. The Niland Gallery is running an exhibition of their inspirational pieces from the 17th to 30th July. Get an insight into the mind of some of our country’s finest designers, and enjoy the visual beauty of today’s contemporary interiors.
The Camphire International Horse Trials & Country Fair takes place in Tallow, Co Waterford this weekend on the banks of the beautiful Blackwater. Now in its 18th year, Camphire promises to be a spectacular show of cross country, dressage and showjumping, all alongside the trade village with its beautiful crafts, country clothing, antiques, equestrian wear and saddlery. There will also be home-made foods and fine wines to sample. And if that’s not enough to keep you entertained, there is the Camphire GAIN Dog Show, garden games, a climbing wall and the bubble guys, to name but a few! Looking for a bit of a giggle this weekend? The Vodafone Comedy Festival kicks off at the Iveagh Gardens, Dublin Thursday 26th July and runs til Sunday 29th. Featuring the likes of David O’ Doherty, Dermot Whelan, Sharon Mannion and the brilliant Aisling Bea, this is a weekend stuffed full of belly laughs with a brilliant array of comedic talent. Also in Dublin this week, the second Trinity Summer Series takes place in Trinity’s College Park from 23rd to 29th July. Featuring some stellar acts such as Grace Jones, Brian Ferry, Imelda May and Gavin James, the Summer Series was a huge hit last year and is promising not to disappoint this year either! Now in its second year, the Cork Ska & Reggae Festival is kicking off in Crane Lane Theatre and the Poor Relation this weekend from 28th to 30th July with one mission; “spreading a One Love vibe and uniting people though the power of music”. With a bill of brilliant acts from the Ska and Reggae scene, this festival with a different flavour aims to showcase not only up and coming talent but also renowned international acts, reviving a scene that has never grown old!
And finally, if you’re looking for a great way to relax and unwind, Belvedere House, Gardens & Park are hosting Outdoor Yoga mornings throughout the summer, every Saturday at 11 am. What could be better than getting back in touch with your inner self and back to nature, all in the stunning surrounds of Belvedere? And then over to CaToCa cafe for a coffee and a slice of something nice! The participation cost also includes your entrance into the house and grounds for the day. But book quickly as places are limited.
