Playstival takes place this weekend at the Airfield Estate, Dundrum, a shiny new festival celebrating play, imagination and fun for both kids and parents alike. Developed with the Happy Pear, this 2 day event features 8 ‘play universes’, all created to give a genuine, 100% interactive feel for children from 18 months to 12 years. And staying in the capital, the Dublin Horse Show runs this week from 8th to 12th August. The Horse Show has become a world renowned celebration of Ireland’s affinity with horses. As well as the main equestrian events, there is music, entertainment and over 300 trade stands to enjoy. A fantastic day out for all the family! Kilkenny Arts Festival

The beautiful city of Kilkenny celebrates the Kilkenny Arts Festival from 9th to 19th August with an array of music, theatre, opera, dance, visual arts, literature and design. Now in its 44th year, the festival promises 10 days of intimate and unique collaborations across the historical city of Kilkenny, giving audiences a truly memorable experience. If you have never been to the gem that is Woodstown Beach, let me urge you to go! And this weekend is the perfect time as the Woodstown August Fair takes place on Sunday 12th August. Featuring music, craft stalls, art exhibitions, a dog show and much more, this traditional country fair is in a truly picturesque part of the world and well worth a day trip.

Munster’s biggest record and CD fair takes place this Sunday 12th August from 10am to 4pm. Whether you are a vinyl buff or just looking for that one elusive LP, the Limerick Record Fair should definitely not be missed! Set in the fantastic venue of the Milk Market, Limerick City, why not take the day to stroll down memory lane and browse through the past…?

And finally, Ireland’s largest and best horse and pony meeting takes place this weekend in Dingle. For over a hundred years, the Dingle Races have taken place at Ballintaggart Racecourse, and this year will see 20 races and over 160 horses taking part. At the heart of the Kerry Summer calendar every year, this is a fantastic weekend of racing and family fun down on the Dingle Peninsula.
